She refers to the Caroline Willis : ther singer,songwriter,musician and famous star who is the author. They are the same person
It also refers to the authors' mother : who is usually watching soapies on the television and rabitting on about it.
It also refers to Melanie who appears to be Caroline's bestfriend and who is always busy being popular in school.

Caroline does like her mother but she thinks she needs to live a little and have fun and move from the couch so that she can go out of the house so that she discovers the real world out there. She doesn't seem to get on very well with her mother who is a little bit finicky which get on the nerves of the authot Caroline.
She also likes Melanie who i suggest is her bestfriend who is really popular at school plus she doesn't really say much about her but she seems to get on very well with her.
And then there is her but in another dimension where she could live happily ever after being a star everything she would love to be if only she had the nerves and the guts to fulfill her dreams.

She thinks of differents places all throught the text : she mentionnes the stage , and school and then the street.
I can imagine that her life is not that thrilling and that she needs to go out more and live a little. She doesn't have a privacy and she is also always daydreaming which means she is filled with hopes and dreams of maybe becoming something she wants so badly as becoming a singer. She is also very shy and very sociable but she seems to be trustworthy. She is also very talented and have many skills such as writing and singing ....
She dreams of becoming a star because that what she is best at. She is very talented and skilled and has every chance to persue and amazing career in this industrie.
